You are a candy dealer in New York City in the summer of 2040 during the height of candy prohibition where candy is the new dope.

Due to an obesity pandemic, a few years earlier the United States Congress declared sugar a highly addictive substance and banned the sale and manufacture of all candy.

Your goal is to make as much money as possible in 30, 60, or 90, or 365 days without getting caught by the FDA or run out of town by the loan shark’s thugs.

DIRECTIONS FOR PLAY:

1. The basic idea of the game is to buy low and sell high.
2. Travel between the various locations to find deals on the goods.
3. Sell when the price is more than you paid to make money.
4. Pay attention to the news flashes for really good deals (buy or sell).
5. Upgrade your trench coat when you can so you can carry more goods.

Accessibility Comments

The app is very accessible. There are two buttons which aren’t labeled. They are the Bank and Loan Shark. The Loan Shark is the button at the far left on the bottom of the screen and the Bank is the one next to that one. I find it’s a bit easier flicking to the Borough or area of New York City I want to travel to and double tapping it rather than trying to touch the spot on the map. The travel destinations are all properly labeled. I have never heard the “news flashes” alerting to low prices on candies. I don’t know if Voice Over never reads these or if these were taken out of the last version. The only events I’ve noticed were gaining an extra turn in the game (called days here), and finding loot on dead men while traveling on the subway. However, there do seem to be times when prices are extremely high or extremely low so this may be something Voice Over cannot read or something I have not yet been able to figure out.

You will be given base points based on the result of the game

• 5 points for a win
• 4 points for a draw
• 3 point for a loss

• Then you will be given a point for every card won
• Finally you will lose a point for every card lost, you cannot score less than 0 points

Rules

• You can either be in control or not, in control means you pick both a card and a statistic. Players not in control only pick a card.
• The player who won the last card will be given control, at the start of the game a player is randomly picked to be in control at the start.
• The player with the highest value for the statistic chosen on their card will win that card. If the values are equal the card will be placed in the hold, where it will stay till the next winner of a card received both the card they won and the contents of the hold.
• A card can only be played once.
• You are dealt 15 cards out of a deck of 30.
• You can cycle through all your un-played cards to chose the card you would like to play next.
• The winner is the player with the most points when all cards have been played.

Chess-wise is a chess playing app for the iPhone, iPod touch and the iPad. It contains many nice features not found in any other chess program, like having an interface to the 6-men tablebase of Nalimov, and containing a large database of professional games.

A lot of attention has been paid to the graphics, with the aim to make it look beautiful, without any distracting bling-bling. All moves are animated. Captured pieced fade away. You can choose from 20 different sets of pieces.

Chess-wise has VoiceOver integration, making it the only mobile chess application which is fully accessible to blind users (iOS 4 required).

PLAY
Games can be either for 1 or 2 players, and either with or without a clock. When playing without a clock in landscape mode, the view is 3 dimensional. Of course, all the standard features like swapping sides or rotating the board are available.

ANALYZE
Chess-wise contains a separate screen for analyzing positions. You can try out side variations and return to the main line with a simple double tap on the corresponding move in the move list. You can ask the engine for an evaluation, or look up the ECO code for a position.

SETUP
You can setup a position using an intuitive interface.

TABLEBASE

Finally, there is a collection of 300 exercises which keeps track of which ones you’ve solved.

Chess-wise is based on the Tjes engine (developed by me in 1996), and has played on the Internet Chess Club (ICC). The engine contains:

• an extra ply after forced moves
